Rossdale COMMUNITY GARDEN
The Rossdale community garden started in 2018. There are 62 raised beds, of these 15 beds are higher to address special requests. The garden also includes a shed, four water cubes, two picnic tables and a bench. There are communal strawberry and raspberry bushes, along with a small patch of herbs. The garden is a community gathering place, a space where friendship starts, and is the source of hundreds of pounds of fresh produce in any given year.
The garden is open to all Rossdale residents within the community boundary listed on the Rossdale website.
COST
There is an annual $20 user fee to assist in covering maintenance, materials, and water.
Also, gardeners are required to volunteer for opportunities such as filling up the water cubes and helping out with the red-stake plots etc. Volunteer Signup forms will be distributed in May.
JOIN US!
Our mandate is to provide one garden bed per family. Priority is then given to those gardeners wanting to keep second plots from the previous season. When all requests are fulfilled, consideration will be made for new requests for a second bed.
We will make every effort to maintain assigned beds from year to year.
We work together in the garden through a number of activities including: the red stake program which indicates you are away so others can water your garden in your absence, maintaining communal fruit and herb bushes to share in the harvest, supporting local kids to maintain the water cubes, and work bees. We also have fun together with bbqs and social events to resume when we are allowed to gather again.

The committee consists of 5 - 7 Rossdale residents who are garden members. Most importantly, we meet in early spring to discuss and plan for the upcoming season. There may be other ad hoc meetings that arise throughout the year.
Meeting minutes are posted here and shared with the Rossdale Community League board.
